9/4/09 Shenandoah Nat'l Park, VA

Today we took the car up the Blue Ridge Mountains and drove along Skyline Drive, which is on the ridge, for about 50 miles. From one end of the park to the other, is approximately 105 miles along Skyline Dr. There are some camping areas, but, we just wanted to make a day trip. Enjoy the view!!

A view of our drive along the ridge.

Nature's display in a scenic site pull-out

Symbol on the pole is for the Appalachian Trail. . . Jack appears to be coming back from a hike.

On the other side of the pole. . .

The leaves are just starting to turn. . . we will miss the major display next month.

View of Shenandoah Valley. . . smog is from the industry in the Ohio River Basin. It's pretty bad.

We are almost at the base of the mountain. . . another view of the valley and the smog.
